I’m a
California girl, born and raised in one
of the most beautiful places on earth:
Lake Tahoe!! I am the middle of three sisters,
April and Sara. My parents spread their
love of sports and nature to us girls and
that is how we spent our time, outdoors!
We split our time between Kauai, HI, and
Squaw Valley, CA until I was 6. Growing
up in two very diverse climates taught
me to love it all!

A
brief history of my sporting antics include
begging my parents to put me out on water
skis after watching April behind the boat
when I was 18 months. From there, it was
basically anything April could do, I needed
to try it! I was on to snow skiing at age
3 and would be dropped off at the ski hill
to Squaw’s Mighty Might Program every
weekend. From when I was 5 years old, the
mountain did the babysitting on the weekends
in our family! I started racing at about
seven and from then on I knew that the
Olympics were where my dreams would take
me.
I always knew I wanted to compete in all
5 Alpine events, iike most things in my life,
I wanted to do it all!! I started racing
World Cups and was Nor-Am Champion at age
16. I competed in my 1st Olympic Games when
I was 17, set a U.S. mark for Junior World
Championships medals, and established a record
for the most consecutive U.S Championship
top 3s. The pinnacle of my career thus far
was in 2006 when I was crowned Olympic Champion
in Torino, Italy in the GS event!
I must tell you though, that I am way more
than just your typical ski racer. I have
been known to climb mountains, do triathlons,
and pretty much follow my heart where it
takes me. When I’m not skiing, I am
out surfing, kite-boarding, paddle boarding,
or anything else that involves being in the
ocean. I live in Maui in my off time and
for me it is such a nice contrast. It helps
me mentally re-charge so when I hit the snow
again I am as fresh as can be!
I’ve got a lot of goals to accomplish
and a long career of ski racing ahead of
me. I’m looking forward to working
my way to the top of the World Cup Leader
Board and also capturing another Gold Medal
in the next Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver,
CAN 2010!!

Why I Chose LIV For
My Charity
I am a huge supporter of LIV because it is
an amazing organization that my sister April
helped start. It was founded by a group of
medical students that wanted to be the change
they needed to see in the world. Together,
they have funded, organized, and participated
in programs all over the world with one thing
in mind, to promote comprehensive global wellness.
So join myself and LIV, and let’s start
helping the citizens around the world get the
physical and spiritual health they need!
